Hi bud.
I am on the look out shortly for my First Porsche. I have been in contact with this fella who was recommended to me. Appears to get some decent motors in!

£30k should comfortably see you into a nice C2S with a spec you want.
Where are you in Scotland?
Kenny Dunn's prices generally seem to be at the higher end of the market, but he appears to do good business. As Porsche is just one of the marques he trades in, it is unlikely he will just happen to have in your perfect spec car in the next few months (depends how fussy you are!)
There are quite a few other options on vendor depending on where you are, and how far you want to travel.

Just my 2 pence worth guys, but I know Kenny Dunn from both before his time at Glenvarigill (the old Porsche/Ferrari dealership in Edinburgh) and after, and he only deals in good quality stuff. A nice guy too who will go out his way to help you in your decision making process. Perhaps paying a few pennies extra for good piece of mind and a bit more quality is worth it in the case of spending large amounts on shiny things?

Thanks guys, I'm in Glasgow. Most of the cars I like the look of are in and around the M25: RSJ and 911virgin seem OK, but it's such a long way.
James, i'll be in the same boat myself soon mate, and no doubt a trip south will be the only solution for me. I always say though, no where is ever to far for the right car and the right deal mate. Most of these prospects you'll probably have made your mind up before hand, that you are indeed gona buy, and if the dealer is honest in his description, which in my experience i have found to be the case, as you are traveling a long distance, they tend not to mess you about.
I have traveled all over the UK for cars mate, it's very simple. A train journey early am and i am usually back in my home for 10 - 11pm with my new Motor. Yeh on occassion it may backfire, you get there and its a dog and not as described, but that is the risk you need to take sometimes, as i say, for the right car!!
Have you tried Porsche Glasgow and Edinburgh. Although the latter, their prices are a bit Sky high!!
Don't be put off traveling to M25 area for a car, cheapo flight from Prestwick and you'll be sat in the dealership having your morning coffee ready for the drive back home.
That's what I did, just found Glasgow prices too high and Edinburgh tried to sell me a dog , it was cheap for a reason.
I reckon you can buy unseen from 911 or RSJ from what I've read on here and will probably be what I do in the next year.

Oh right, OK. Helpful.
The impression seemed to be that the 997 will suffer more than other models. I take it that's incorrect?
i don't think anyones got a crystal ball, i for example doubt they will depreciate faster than then same year boxster or Cayman or C2... but who knows? the only thing you can be pretty certain of is that the older it is the less it will depreciate in percentage terms compared to a newer car The impression seemed to be that the 997 will suffer more than other models. i think that your looking at between 2-5K depreciation a year still on a 2005 911... i paid £37500 on mine 2 years ago and its would probably fetch £25k at the mo... though i'm not expecting 12.5k depreciation over the next 2 years

oh an i looked at 996 turbos at the same time for around the same money and they've dropped by a similar amount, so don't let anyone convince your the 996t is more depreciation proof than the 997
the only cars than havn't come down much are 996 GT3's, on the day i bough mine i sat in a speed yellow 996.2 GT3 for £42995, (i wasn't for me daily driver) however i would bet that car would fetch £35k+ in todays market... its still depreciated but a good chunk less... personaly i still think this will come down as they age, despite the general forum feeling they are depreciation proof
