Ordering Indian takeaway. Why not phone?

It occurred to me this evening that I've never, whilst sober, walked in and ordered an Indian takeaway (always order by phone then wander round and pick it up).
Yet this evening, whilst waiting for mine to be finished, three people walked in with large orders. As they didn't use it as an excuse for a cheeky beer, I really don't know why they wouldn't phone ahead.
What am I missing..? Why would you not phone ahead..?

Three reasons off the top of my head!! Why didn't you ask them if you were that concerned.....

4) Not concerned (and it didn't really occur to me until later)
Odie: mine doesn't appear to offer free beverages. (Oddly though, for pizza I'd always just drop by. Chinese always gets delivered. Probably another manifestation of my OCD that things have to be this way.)

Also some local curry houses have a deal if you order a set menu takeaway, such as a 'free' bottle of plonk with a particular set meal...
My local Indian takeaway is also a restaurant. I sometimes go with the missus, gives us a chance to get out and there is a nice ambience to enjoy whilst you're sitting and waiting. They also have the day's paper to read, and you sometimes get a better deal/specials when you go in person.
I never phone for anywhere that is very close.
First reason is I hate talking the phone. Can't stand speaking to someone I can't see.
Second reason is that by going in person I jump the queue at my local Chinese.
Third reason is I am mates with the bloke at my local Indian, so it's nice to see him and have a chat.
