Commentator Competition
Are you the next Murray Walker? Green Flag launch competition for commentators
Green Flag Motoring Assistance are on the lookout for future stars to get behind the microphone to find the next Murray Walker of the airwaves.
The roadside rescue company, current sponsors of the Green Flag British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), have launched a competition to find new sports commentators.
The overall winner will get the opportunity to commentate live during the finale of the Green Flag BTCC championship at Donington Park on 26 September 2004.
Green Flag spokesperson, Nigel Charlesworth explains that to enter, budding presenters will be asked to give a 60-second commentary on a subject of their choice. "It doesn't have to be a sporting event, in fact it can be anything from a journey to work to a first date! A good commentator should be able to describe making a simple task such as making a cup of tea sound exciting."
The winner will not only commentate live on the circuit radio station at Donington Park on 26th September, but will also receive a £500 cash prize and top VIP treatment for four guests throughout the race weekend.
The judging panel will include Green Flag marketing director, Hillary Williams, ITV's BTCC presenter, Ben Edwards and one of this year's touring car racing drivers. The closing date for the competition is Monday 6 September 2004. The winner will be notified by Friday 17 September 2004.
To enter the contest, simply call 0870 608 4488 (calls charged at national rate). The competition rules and further details of this, and other Green Flag competitions, are available at www.greenflagbtcc.com .
