After having a promise called in for taking the other half to longleat safari park,I could do with staying down there for a night or two as it's 180 miles away.
Looking at the map there's a good few other sights to see around that part of the world too.Ideally I'd like to stay in a nice real ale pub/inn or somewhere within walking distance of a couple of them.I have searched a bit and found a place called the walnut tree inn so far,but anywhere within 20mins drive of the park would do
Can anyone of the PH massive recommend a nice place?

I didn't realise, until my visit to Wookey Hole/Cheddar 2 days ago, that the Cheddar Gorge caves are owned by Longleat. You can buy tickets to visit both (well, while you're down there) as they are only about 40 minutes apart. smile

Cant help with accommodation I'm afraid.

The Bath Arms - Very nice place, food is exceptional and horningsham is an absolutely lovely village, i'd highly recommend it.

Are you sure?

I know that he used to own The Angel at Upton Scudamore (http://www.theangelinn.co.uk/) but haven't heard anything of his involvement with the bath arms.

I think the Bath Arms along with a few other pubs in the area are also owned by Longleat Estate.

This pub is just 5mins from Longleat...

Mrs Saleen has just read this thread and reckons it was the Angel at Heytsbury that was owned by AWT
