This looks the business.

3 guys, 1 programmer, 1 mech eng, 1 elec eng are producing an App + Hardware that will allow you complete control over your DSLR via remote. Kickstarter is this crowd sourced funding idea. You have an idea, you ask the world for funding. If people like it they punt you some money, if you reach your funding target then the project is a go! But you have to deliver presumably.

Have a look on there, there is so many cool little things including a scaled down version of that Bosch rexroth still Aluminium extrusion that you can screw together to make all sorts of useful things like light weight camera rigs.

There was a thread over on the timescapes forum last year that was a complete live view remote for an iPad that looked fantastic. It was around $8 if I remember correctly and would be very handy for night time timelapses as you can get the focus spot on using the iPad screen then just set the camera going.

Can't for the life of me find the thread now though!
