What's it like as a city? I have an opportunity to re-locate there.

Thanks

Poor, a manufacturing city without manufacturing.

However if you are thinking about working there you don't have to live there.

Is it getting better? Apparently it's under going redevelopment, I know a few million pounds has been poured into the university there. Surely the rest of the city won't be ignored!

20min train ride apparently, might be an option. I'm a southner though and the north worries me a little.

You can at least make a case for Birmingham.

If you are going to work in Coventry, the OP needs to know if they can afford Leamington/Warwick/somewhere that isn't actually Coventry.

As said, Coventry is a dump, one of the most depressing cities in the UK. However, as said, if you are commuting and can live in Rugby/Leamington/Warwick/Stratford upon Avon then it's not bad overall, depends where you live at the moment and what the pay rise is.

Some lovely CV postcodes (I lived in one, CV36 next to Moreton in Marsh).

The place is poor, so most of the housing isn't great, there's no decent shops in the centre, there's no restaurants in the place as the locals couldn't afford to eat their in sufficient numbers to make the number add up.

The UK is full of cities that have been redeveloped for the last 30+ years but once the industry that the city grow up around is gone, there's little hope. Can you think of an indusrial city where the decline has been arrested?

Cov is a st-pit. I work on the outskirts, and rarely venture into town. Head south to Kenilworth, Leamington, warwick if you need town-life. Or there's plenty of good vilages dotted about. We're between Stratford & Banbury. I have a 35 minute commute.

ETA, I'm a southener too. Love it where I am now

It's not that bad although it's full of students.

Crime tends to stay in the chav estates and if you are going to come learning polish might be an idea hehe

I've lived in a few places in the UK but came back with fear in my eyes.

Coventry - generally vies with Slough for the worst place in the UK.

As has been said, lots of nice places to live nearby, Leamington's probably better avoided, but Warwick/Stratford are really quite nice (not the last word in nightlife though)...
