Scottish Driver Education Courses

A friend was stopped for speeding (M8 near Glasgow) a few weeks ago and told he was going to be recommended for a Speed Awareness Course. I didn't think we had those scams driver education opportunities north of the border.

Has anything changed? The officer that stopped him told my friend that they were "clamping down" and sending people on these courses. Anyone else heard anything?

A guy at work was given one but he had tom pay £400 for it, I asked for one when I got stopped but I have to go to court
