Prime example ..... I've heard these guys paid LESS than 10K for it a month ago. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3457673.htm and the pictures were taken in a petrol station on the way home from buying it.
It makes my piss boil when I hear on here about all those poor Specialists struggling to make a living and at the same timme trying to be our best buddies.
It's not that people are thick, just quite often they are unsure what something should be worth, especially if they aint a normal Porsche follower, and a smooth salesperson can bulls
t the casual looker that they have a value for money, classic, perfect condition, 5tar investment in front of them.Edited by Wozy68 on Tuesday 10th April 23:23
That's about the same as this then.

This was up for £13995 at the back end of last year. Can't see any dealer benefits when buying now either.
Fair enough if it's had £5k spent but even then you can't add that on.
God loves a tryer though.

You lot are fciking hilarious. If you were a dealer and spotted the car which you know you could retail at £21k up at £14k presumably you trundle down there and offer the seller £16k do you?
If it was that much of a bargain what was stopping you buying it? Nothing. And what's making you or anyone else buy it at £21k? Nothing.
This is what is known as the market, I find it constantly amazing that people on this sub-forum of all of them, seem unsure as to how it works!

I really don't get this indignation at dealers making a profit?
What on earth do you think they are in business for?
How does anyone earn a sustainable living without either working for a profitable business OR a subsidised public service?
Basic business economics seem to be beyond some people.
Rant over!
I'm off to the charity shop to buy my next car................................. Hang on a minute they get things GIVEN to them and then CHARGE for them............Shock Horror

Absolutely.
- some people will not buy privately.
- the dealer spends money on the car.
- he takes a financial commitment with stock.
- he takes a commercial risk.
- he takes a SOGA risk.
- he offers added service and has to pay for the added fixed cost associated with that.
- it's the asking price, not the transaction price.
- it's a bl00dy free country !!!!

Best of luck to them if they can achieve that, but it seems unlikely. I have my own CS up for sale with less miles, a proper service history with lots of recent work and over £8k cheaper. So far no real interest, but they are specialist cars though and I imagine that it's a case of waiting for the right buyer to come along.I don't understand the problem. Everybody has the right to invest their own money (or a businesses) to turn a profit - just as everybody has got to live. The real 'problem' here is the original owner may have under valued the car and can't offer the support/warranty etc that a dealer can. Also the dealer may a have added extra value to car by way of repairs, valeting or whatever. Hats off to the dealer, he's doing exactly what he set out to do - buy low, sell high.
