Just on the news. Navy F18 crashed into an apartment building in Viginia. Reports of the fuel being dumped before crew ejected.

Yeah just been told about this by my girlfriend, her parents live there. I was just about to post something.

Looks bad enough. Hope all are OK. I'll probably go to hell for this, but I did let out an involuntary titter when I read the link, where it states they managed to avoid a mini golf course, then hit the apartments.

I like the way the report claims that the crew managed to avoid a nearby golf course. They obviously chose to crash into a residential area instead rather than damage the 12th green.

It seems the crew got out. I hope no one on the ground was hurt.

There are reports of one person in hospital so far. It's made a mess of the apartment complex so unfortunately I'd be surprised if there aren't more.

Been told VA beach is probably the most densely populated part of the area, and the apartments are quite badly destroyed. Couldn't really have chosen a worse place to go down. Hopefully most people were at work/school.

Instantly reminded me of the San Diego F-18 crash in 2008.

Does anyone know what the rod-type things underneath the seat are? Is that the fuel for the rocket? Just curious.

Well it seems to be a retirement complex so perhaps the pilot thought they were nearing the end of their lives anyway!
