Latest readouts from Nick's S2. Not bad for a car with 107000 miles on the clock!

Agreed!
The car had done approx 95000 miles when I sold it (got it with 45k 5 years earlier) in 2003 so it's had a pretty easy life for the last 9 years wink

Had anyone messed with the engine before? It's gained around 15bhp from new, is this normal?

I think it depends a lot on the dyno. My S2 registared 185bhp at Austec, the chap there reckoned that 170 to 180bhp was normal for an S on that rolling road.

Aye, I guess it does depend on the dyno used. Does anyone know any particularly difficult rolling roads? The one Nick used this time was Motoscope, and he seems really good, but Nick likes to try new places to get a fairer comparison.

Normally BHP goes down with age not up! I'm certain engine was standard when I had it but being my first tvr it felt quick regardless of BHP at the time!

It's certainly a quick little car. Nick has had a good look at the ECU and there's no obvious signs of any form of chip fitted to it.

I like rolling roads would be interested in seeing the whole plot. Have the heads been skimmed? This would up the cr and gain some ponies. That said a cold day and a few extra psi can also show a few extra. Main thing is that its pulling strong so no major tuning problems nice.

I should put mine on.. Would be happy with that figure.

cheers Damian S3

YOU don't see the point...what, in knowing that your engine is healthy and set up properly ?

Oh, and what 'today's standards' cars are you comparing it with ?

The heavy computer-designed lumps of tin which even with more power are still slower ? confused

I really do read some rubbish on here by NON-pistonheads. rolleyes

I was there when the engine was dismantled and re-built...including valves reground, and there also for the last R/R session.

Hey, steady on chaps redcard Note BarryS1 said “…personal opinion”. The great thing about this Forum is that we all respect each others opinions even when we don’t agree with them. And even if we do take the mick a bit now and again.

Now now girls, put the handbags down!
I think BarryS1 was saying what's the point of having a nice healthy engine if you don't go out and drive it. Surely that's the whole thing about owning a TVR- driving pleasure!
