Best Ever Result for Lambo
Murciélago R-GT finishes second in ALMS race
The Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT produced its realised the best-ever result for the Lamborghini marque in international motor racing this weekend, being placed second in the GTS class at the fourth round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at Infineon Raceway, California.
The podium placed Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT was driven by the Krohn-Barbour Racing team pairing of Tracy Krohn and David McEntee (standing in for Scott Maxwell) both racing the Lamborghini for the first time, with Krohn in his first-ever ALMS race.
The other Krohn-Barbour Racing Lamborghini, of David Brabham and Peter Kox, was running fourth in the GTS class when Kox was forced to retire the car 25 minutes into the race with mechanical problems.
The Amprex Motorsports Murciélago R-GT was also in action this weekend in the fourth round of the Japan GT championship. The team, with Kuala Lumpur-based Japanese driver-owner, Genji Hashimoto, and second driver German Norman Simon, qualified a second ahead of the main opposition, the Ferrari 550 GTS of Prodrive.
In the race, the R-GT finished in 15th place at Tokachi Speedway, Hokkiado, after suffering minor accident damage from an off-course excursion during the race, but once again coming home in front of the Prodrive Ferrari.

I really like this car and I wish it all the best. Give me one and I'll drive it all day, but this looks like a biased press-release from Krohn-Barbour as even though the Lambo came second in the GTS, it got trumped by no less than 8 GT cars...
No mention of who won the race or the class either. Anyway here are the results - all the way down to 16th.

If you can't tell, I'm damn excited about this.

And if the 2nd Corvette didn't have the fire accident then the Lambo would have been third.
The "fire accident" was actually in morning warmup and was the #8 (3rd Corvette) which was being driven by Dale Earnhardt Jnr. at the time and he was due to share the car with Boris Said. The #64 (2nd Corvette) was leading until Olly Gavin stuffed it into the Lambo (whilst lapping it) and it lost a whole load of laps fixing the front.
However, your comment about 3rd being the best the Lambo would have achieved is basically true, but as with all things you capitalise on others failings so congratulations to them for their best ever result in the GTS class. If it wasn't for them GTS would be incredibly boring as there would be no competition to the Corvettes. I just wish the Prodrive Ferraris were still there to get beaten!
Totally agree about the Lambo "Press Release"! Not exactly unbiased reporting........
