My stag do is in Barcelona at the end of the month, I never been there before. I have been on a few websites about sight seeing and architecture and obviously the nou camp. Just wanted to see what PHers recommend to see and do?

edit

what about night life? where to go?

Don't do the prostitutes, they look really, really skanky.

Do leave your valuables at the hotel as much as possible, there are a huge number of pickpockets.

Now the nasty stuff's out the way...

Make sure to go to the Sagrada Familia - they've kicked on massively with it in the last few years and it's brilliant. Get there early as there's a massive queue to get in and we ended up stood waiting for an hour in the midday sun.

The Camp Nou (that's the way it should be in Catalan) is well worth a visit; we were lucky enough to be there on a weekend when they were playing the bottom team in the league so we got to watch a game. Messi was awesome, even though he was 2mm tall from where we were sat.

That's all the stuff we managed to do on the stag I went on, mostly I was hungover...

We are going the week after el classico, barca are away that weekend to villareal so we will try a pub somewhere to watch it.

Hangovers are going to dominate really. We are there for 4 days and we have rented out an apartment on las ramblas.

If you fancy going to see some footy , check and see if Espanol are at home that weekend.

Sea Life Aquarium is about 10 minutes walk from Las Ramblas.

Olympic stadium and museum are about a 45 minute walk - the museum is worth a visit.

If you're googling that it should be Bagdad.

Have vague memories of that place on more than one occasion biggrin

Gary, i live in BCN and have answered this a few times. I'm on hols til next week , but if you check back, I've answered where to go and what to see a few times. See 3 links from about 2 weeks ago in this section.

Nightlife..... Ummmm posh, the wave hotel or a Chiri on the beach. Otherwise, born and ravel are full of cheap bars with spirits measures to match. Don't know about clubbing or anything else, not my bag.

Pickpockets.... The metro and las ramblas are targets as are stag groups. Be sensible, no wallets in back pockets, leave stuff in hotel safe.

As you like footie, the nou camp tour is good, for architecture casa mila, and sagrada (WOW!!!)
Olympic stadium is boring but free, olympic museum 3 euro and quite good. It's on Mont Juic which is great.
If you want a theme park, tibidabo will do and is easy yo get to, or a water park (there are plenty)

Mail me if you want more, but it will be next week.

The dwarven doormen gave a clue as to the esoteric nature of the contents.

Echo the anti crime sentiments above. Stag do a few years back, and two of our party had their wallets removed. Admittedly, one was asleep on a park bench, and the other one was being "distracted" by a lady he'd just met...

The nice part was where you were having a standard city break type stag do, then wander down to the beach for a while on the afternoon, before going at it again later on. City/beach combination FTW.

Went a few years ago on a lads weekend. Not beer dominated but we found some great little places just wondering around. I loved the Gothic quarter.

Also try go and see this if you can. Its a cliche but its epic.

If you want a really great, lively, fun-filled night out, get on a train (30 mins) and spend the evening in Sitges.

Yes it is, but it takes a little more finding. Thursday night is a big night out and other nights there are clubs til 9wm in the morning.

Monday to Thursday, i would look on Barcelonayellow.com as it has more ideas.

Bars on the main drags will be open until 1 or 2 and later. Nights do not start really until 9pm with food (10 or 11 is ok to eat) and then bars warm up from 1130..... By 2am clubs are starting to get busy
