Lake District + sunshine + 911!
Discussion
My wonderful wife decided that we should make the most of the unusually clement March weather and have a night away in the Lakes.
Pukka little guesthouse in Ambleside:

Taking a break on the Kirkstone Pass:

On the way to Keswick:

Our first night away with the 911.
Every trip is a journey, every journey is an adventure...
I post these pics as an alternative to telling you all how much less the car is worth now that we've owned it a month, bleating on about my 'purchase experience', worrying that the cigarette lighter might have been used (having examined it, I'm confident it hasn't been used by the way, so we can all sleep well knowing that).

Well done and so nice to see a car used and not worrying about so many of the things that seem to worry so many
Thanks. Normally this time of year we're planning a Nurburgring jaunt, but having to hold back this year pending a surgery appointment for Mrs FarQue - hoping for an appointment any day now.

Did Ambleside treat you nicely?
(From there, going visiting family next week).
Ambleside treated us very well. Our accomodation was near the top of 'Nook Lane'. I was pleased we were in a C2S rather than a wide-body C4S... road was a bit narrow in places... ha ha.(From there, going visiting family next week).
Nice trip op.
We get over there as often as possible. Great roads and views.
If you haven't done it yet you must do the A686 Penrith to Hexham (well Haydon Bridge on the A69 really) road, that climbs up over Hartside pass. There's a cafe on the top for a cuppa and to take in somemore views. Always bloomin' freezing though, regardless of the time of year.
Anyway, good post. I'd much rather read about trips and look at good pics, than read about depreciaton.
That view down Kirkstone pass is good isn't it.

Nice weather for it! Nice looking place you stayed at in Ambleside.
Hows the car, getting used to it? You know, with the engine being in a stupid place and all.

Hi Peter - really enjoying the car, thanks. Totally different to the 986 - feels much more 'alive' and very much a car of two ends, i.e. front doing one thing, back something else.Hows the car, getting used to it? You know, with the engine being in a stupid place and all.

Obviously, being an auto it's lost all of its finely honed dynamicism, which is a shame and is only good for picking up the pension... sorry, drifted off to another thread there!

Just out of curiosity, I am off to the lakes soon but cannot decide whether to take the cayenne or my old Nissan Terrano beater.
This is purely based on the width of the car, as I have never been before and dont want to struggle with narrow lanes in the Porsche.
Any views?
I don't think the width of a Cayenne would bother me in the Lakes - but I'm used to Cornish lanes...This is purely based on the width of the car, as I have never been before and dont want to struggle with narrow lanes in the Porsche.

Most of the 'narrow' roads will be fine - there's lots of passing places. Just don't go faster than the distance that you can see to stop in.
