I’ve started moving all my car stuff out my mum's garage into mine after finishing building my new garage, and I’ve come across an old book that I got when I was about 10 years old and it's probably responsible for me getting "into" old cars. It's called the world car catalogue from 1964 from the automobile club d'italia and lists every car available in 1964 by country, manufacturer, price and engine size. I found it fascinating then looking at all the obscure cars that I’ve never even heard of before never mind seen, and still do looking at them now, this is the kind of thing they have about every car
They don't have a road test or anything, but have an interesting wee roundup of the facts and figures concerning the car, I just love it.
Hope this doesn't get a "cool story bro" tag and if anyone wants a scan of any specific cars let me know and I’ll sort it out

I think there is still something available like this, with the same or similar name.
There was one in Shipol airport that I used to browse through, bit it was rather large and heavy.
I even found the cars that a friend of mine builds, in a shed with his mate. That is the level of detail.

It is indeed an excellent book. I have the 1976 edition. My brother and I wasted many, many hours flicking through its pages in the late '70s/early '80s.

Colin - that book looks great. I am in the middle of restoring a 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale. They were relatively low volume, and put together by Bertone rather than by Alfa. I don't suppose they are included in the book are they?
