Hi guys, a couple of buddies and I are driving through europe [to my wedding ...gulp..] soon and as a 911 c4s owner i fancied stopping via Stuttgart. Does anyone have any suggestions for contacts that may be able to help organise a factory tour..have any of you doen this before?

I tried my dealer who have not come up trumps yet.
Cheers steve

A few years ago a group of us on a tour with our 944's wanted to visit the factory. We asked the contact from Porsche Club Great Britain as we were all members but were told they only had a limited number of allocated visits per year, we were welcome to join them on one but they couldn't sanction our group to have one of 'their' visits.

What we did find out though was that new owners who collect their cars from the factory are given a tour as part of the collection process so we went to the factory on spec and asked if we could join in one of the visit groups (it helped that one of our number spoke German). The factory was very accommodating, they let us in with a group but the tour was in German. Still better than nothing.

So you 'may' get lucky if you ask for customer service at the factory. Make sure you go during the working week though as they didn't do much at the weekends. There's also a museum on the factory site.

I contacted Porsche (probably the same person as I listed above) asking for a tour in English and specifying a date I wanted to go (it was a bank holiday Monday in the UK).

No problem, and no charge. I was on the same tour as 4 Americans who were collecting their 997s .. same tour, except at the end they went to the Christophorous restaurant at the Porsche Museum before they collected their cars.
