I'm very keen to try a 7.1 or 7.2 GT3 on track prior to a possible purchase, but reading elsewhere on here, it appears that you can't really press on with the PEC track. Does anyone know of another UK venue that has one of these cars where you can get close to exploiting its potential (driver skills permitting of course).

Sometimes (rarely) the Porsche Driving Centre run the GT course on Silverstone's southern circuit. Alternatively some race prep companies have GT3s you can hire, eg: Track Focused.

Sean Edwards may be able to help though might only have Cup cars.

You are right you'll never get out of 3rd and 7k rpm on the little PEC track.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. I don't particularly want to drive a Cup car as it would be obviously too far removed from a road going 7 GT3. I'll try
track focus though and maybe possibly PEC could be persuaded to let me use more of the circuit. driving

Is it worth talking to the chaps at RPM Porsche? They have a fleet of P cars for track day use and I can't help thinking that I've read somewhere that they may have a GT3 coming online at some stage... Could be wrong though.

Just spoken with PEC and they do a precision driving day using any model you want which uses either the national or GP circuit and costs £1220.

All in? Or do you have to add car hire on top? If all in that's an absolute bargain!

Make sure you get confirmation of exactly what you are getting. I did the Precision course and was booked on part of the Silverstone track but they decided when I arrived that they would keep me on the inner track instead.

No discount? Or offer to come back another day? That's a bit naughty if not?

Could I suggest that the cheapest way could be to buy one, try it, then sell it again.

Crazy?

That includes car hire, breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

That could work in theory, but knowing my luck I wouldn't be able to find a buyer if/when I wanted.

I think you should ask the dealer for an extended test drive.
