Any Canon S100 users?

I am ditching my DSLR for a high end compact. I had decided on a Lumix LX-5, but then the Canon S100 came along. I know the lens is slower (especially at longer focal lengths) but I am drawn to the fact that the Canon is truly pocketable. The reason I'm ditching the DSLR is that it's too bulky to take out regularly and really value the fact that a compact can go into a jeans pocket and be carried around unobtrusively.

I have an S95 in my pocket (or on my belt) at all times. It's very capable. I also have a D Lux 4 (same size as LX5), but it's just a little too big for a 'leave in ya jeans' camera.
I do a twitter feed of a photo (or 3) a day and I guess 70% are taken with the S95 and 30% with my DSLR.

Thanks for the feedback. Im a firm believer in the adage that 'the best camera is the one you have on you' ... I've still got an old Sony DSC-T1 that I bought in 2005 as it was a very slim, pocketable camera (5mp before reasonable camera phones). I've just pulled it out of the kitchen drawer and measured it against the S100 dimensions. The S is only 5mm thicker! I guess I've answered my own question.

I've got a s100, I've not used it a great deal yet but I've been very impressed with the quality of the images that it has produced.

My father has an S95 and absolutely raves about it. We got it him for Christmas and it was £298 from Amazon.
To be honest - after using it I would say I prefer it to my sony HX9 which says something as the Sony is a brilliant camera!

I posted a similar question 2-3 weeks ago as I did not wish to trail my ageing Nikon D70 with me on holiday to the USA. I looked at a couple of options but most pointed towards the S100.
I picked up a new one at Best Buy in Florida for £285 which I noted is way cheaper than UK prices.
As I was visiting the Indycar Grand Prix of St Petesburg, I was hoping that it would be able to handle the odd motorsport shot. This was a very early disappointment as I was dismayed to find out that the compact-digi shutter lag appears to be little better than 10 years ago. However I have been at St Petes before and failed to get a good shot with my DSLR so this disappointment soon faded when I started using the S100 for a few snaps. Also really impressed with the build quality. It feels substantial in your hand but compact enough to truly fit in your pocket. The 3 inch screen was pretty usable even in the Florida sunshine. The controls are pretty intuitive considering there appear to be hundreds of options.
I haven't had a massive play around with it but some of the features are pretty cool, some are a bit gimmicky. I am very happy with the quality of the pictures and in the right hands it will definitely be a very competent camera but no substitute for the overall flexibility and quality of a DSLR but it beats it hands down on the practicality front. I just need to getting back into the habit of taking pictures having been put off by the impracticality of lugging the old brick around!
Video quality is pretty good. I don't have a high speed card yet so not sure how it will cope with in-car on track type of action. The slow mo' option is another gimmick as it only shoots in 640 which just looks prehistoric nowadays.
Mediocre panning but with practice would no doubt be better.
Seemed to cope reasonably well with bright reds in low, direct light
Gimmicky Faux Tilt Shift but looks quite good
Yes, the colours really were this vibrant
Apologies about the sloping lake (not sure why I am having an issue with keeping level - one short leg?)

Newly washed cars with a spritz of QD
HDR option used - It brackets and merges 3 consecutive shots. Pretty impressed by this as by the time this picture was taken the civic was in the shadow of the house. Would be better with a tripod, I just braced against the garage door frame!
Other than re-sizing, these are all straight from the camera.

I seem to be in a scarily similar position to Bernie. Found out today that I'll be in Shanghai the same day as the F1 and may be able to make the race.
However, taking the SLR is not an option, so need to consider a compact. I know that I won't be getting good on track shots and to be honest I'll be more interested in watching the action than shooting it.
So, I was considering the S100. Canon make big claims about low light performance, which may be useful as the race doesn't start until 3pm, so circuit shots etc after the race are likely to be in fading light.
Other than that, I've just read good things about the S100, but am not sold yet, if anyone can come up with a better option for a similar budget?
