Just been out for a quick 10 miles on my MTB, just back from the shop also and I'm struggle to shift into the big ring on the front, do I adjust the H or the L screw, or the cable tension?

Thanks

Hi,

To start with, if you change gear to the smaller of your front rings and then check to see how much slack there is in the cable. If it is not taught, then take up the slack with either a barrel adjuster or by pulling the cable through the clamping bolt and tightening the bolt again. If this doesn't work, then you can try slight adjustment of the 'H' (H for High Gear, L for Low gear)screw to see if this allows your chain to shift onto the big ring correctly. Just be careful that just chain doesn't run over and off towards the pedal. Hope this helps.

cable tension. There shouldn't be any reason to fiddle with the screws once set correctly.
