What would it take
Discussion
Hi all,
I would be very interested to see what you guy's think, it would need to put the challenge back on track, some of my thought's
1 Re body the orginal car with a Tuscan s or 350 Body's
2 Engine lease cost's (lower)
3 Tyre's (longer lasting)
4 Entrie fees (more cars less fee's)
5 The cost of the cars now,we sould have at least
20-25 cars out racing, this week end was as good as ever.

I know No29 has views here and we all want to see the Tuscans continue.
I agree with all of what you say, but I believe the car should stay open top. Somehow "Days of Thunder" is doing things right; but just ask Lee Caroline which is better.
I agree with James that there is something 'raw' about the cars being open top.
We need two things - more cars in the grid, and more promotion.
Its a bit chicken and egg, because without the promotion drivers can't raise funds and we don't get more cars on the grid. Perrhaps a change in the appearance of the cars would help - but it would need a big push at the same time.
If we could get a couple of big series sponsors whose funding directly helped the competitors rather than went straight to TVR, that would help quite a bit.
I'm not sure how many of us have the the funding to buy a new car for next year, even if TVR do get the Sagaris out before the end of the season.
There is nowt wrong with the racing - just not enough of us doing it....

What you need first of all is to find out if TVR want to continue to "run" the series, their attitude to date seems to indicate that they are fed up with it and don't really care. If you can get a straight and honest reply, which in it'self would be a ing amazing, and lets say they confirmed that they would do a deal, then you might have a small chance of putting something together. You would need the engine stock, spares supply, and prehaps a link with TVR Power who seem to work a little independently from Blackpool, and may like the Idea. Having said that, people like Bert Taylor have all the expirience to run the Tech/service/parts side along with a few others, so a connection with TVR may be avoidable provided you have them tied up contract wise
Unfortunatly, I couldn't be involved as TVR hate me with a passion, this would lessen your chances of making something happen but I could and would re-open a two/three car team if they were not involved, so I guess I must hate them just as much ........ No, I don't hate them, I just hate what they are doing with the only really good thing that ever came out of TVR. The road cars you can take or leave, but the racing Tuscan is just in a class of it's own, it beats the shit out of me how TVR came up with it, but they did and it's unbeatable.

I believe Mr Caroline senior went to have a little discussion yesterday with the Chairman about TVR's intentions for the series in 2005.
Uncle Rodney, you have mail on a slightly different topic... - oh yeah, and how come the Mon-keh let me spin yesterday?!!
Should be interesting !!! let me know how he gets on. I guess you mailed to motorsport so I'll pick it up this evening.
Did you crash? no, Did you do any damage? no, so non-keh did the business for you didn't he..... ie no more accident bills

Ahhh, nnnnnnoooo, all out of gearbox/diff Mon-kehs, sold the last one to Jan about a year ago, mind you they didn't work very well, used to over-tox on mobile one
If the grids continue to decline the Challenge must be struggling to be a viable option for the promoters at race weekends. It is a shame as the TVR Tuscan Challenge is without doubt the best one make series out there.
The brave few that remain (and the sadly departed teams) need support and sponsorship to keep them going (or indeed bring them back) as doe's the overall series, having the challenge continue has got to be a good advert for TVR, or am I wrong I thought that TVR's were supposed to present an image of affordable performance wrapped up in a British package.
TVR should consider what would help the few that continue to fly the flag and promote their product on thier behalf. How about development/replacement of gearboxes, engines or selling the engines to an independent to manage? power by the hour arrangement?
Let’s get the ideas flowing and hope somebody looks in.
Rod and Bert are past masters and between them provided a significant representation in the series, they have plenty of experience and a lot to offer. Wake up TVR lets get this back to a full grid, with a secure future and then progress to the more expensive newer cars.

I'd go with re-bodying the current car.
I've replaced virtually all my bodywork during the course of the season anyway!
Not overly difficult or expensive. May need a revised roll cage. Would cost peanuts compared with entirely new cars - which perhaps could be introduced when motorsport in general has more money coming in.

I would have thought that putting the s6 ENGINE in the race tuscans, would be a very good start (if it fits)
Much better for TVR marketing and the dealers
i.e the engine used in all NEW model TVR's in the last few years.
Tweaking the front end to have a tuscan mark 2 nose (need only be lookalike) would also be a very good idea. And relatively inexpensive for the drivers (compared to a new car).
Could perhaps also get a rear end to match.
This would make the car MUCH more like the current roads cars, increasing public awareness /tvr cc memebers interest, and dealers say the engine is RACE proven (like they said about the Rover V8's then the AJP v8's)
Better marketing potential, gets the dealers more interested and meets everyone business interests.
For the drivers, not much cost, same engine lease - just different engine. Need not have a new nose/rear end design, until they knock it off, and have to pay for a new one anyway. The factory would obviously want to lead by example.
