James,
drop me an email, not building one for the series but planning something for the sprints and hillclimbs, hopefully off to see Stuart Taylor and Luego in the coming weeks......

I was also looking at racing in this club, maybe the hot hatch champtionship or something.

What are the general costs for race entry's etc?

Is this a good formula to be in?

I race a westie in the kit cars class, the locost boys and girls seem to enjoy themselves alot too. I had a drive in one at Mallory on Friday and was v. impressed. Not too much power but it was fun to be able to take the entry into Gerrards without having to brake
With tight specs and limited budgets it looks like a very competitive series and an ideal way in to the sport. The car I drove was built by Procomp and they seemed a good bunch from past experience although I'm sure there are plenty others out there too.

Hmmm.... Procompy tend to go against the grain a bit, although Matt and Ivan are nice enough, simply because the regs state that the cars should not be 'professionally prepared' - doesn't seem to stop them from doing so though.

Regarding kits vs. Locost - I raced in with the kits last year at Silverstone in my Locost as I failed to qualify (blew rad top hose on first qualifying lap). With only 1300cc and road tyres - I still wasn't last

Choosing a series to race in is an emotive subject, I like kits cos they're really, seriously fast and great value plus I inherited one so didn't have much choice - I reckon most kit car racers spend similar money to the locost boys. (unless you're into V8's or highly stressed Vauxhalls)
As most us built the cars too we tend to be fairly gentlemanly.(Unlike you animals)
Glad to hear you held your own though, some of the guys at the back (like me) are pretty bad drivers but we do get out the way well.
