Canon 60D or 1D mk II?

Hello all,

Im looking to get back into the Photography game, i used to have a 50d two years ago but sold all my gear for financial reasons

Now im back in the black im looking to get another body, ive been looking at the 60D as the 7D is a bit out of my range, but ive also found that a second hand 1D Mk11 fits my budget

Can the 1D Mk2 still cut it these days?

A 1D Mkii will still give great results than its lack of megapixels would suggest. The autofocus is superb, the build quality is bombproof and you can pick them up for as little as £400 now.

The downsides are the LCD screen is much smaller than modern cameras, they weigh a tonne and you can't use the cheaper EF-S lenses.

I have one I use for motorsport and airshows and love it, a great piece of kit.

If the small screen is an issue, the 1D2N fixes that with a 2.5" one. Resolution isn't as good as the current screens though.

I would imagine that high ISO performance will have moved on somewhat since the 1D II, and would be considerably better on the 60d. Mind you if its usable up to ISO 800/1600 or so then i would say the benefits out-way the negatives for the old brick!
