embarrassed using a tripod?

hi all,

is anyone else embarrassed using or used to get embarrassed using a tripod?

i ask because i have one, but rarely take it out. i get frightfully embarrassed using it in public. it's an old jessops one that i bought before going out to new zealand for 6 weeks several years ago. i did use it a couple of times whilst taking panorama shots (in the middle of nowhere where nobody would see me!!).

as per a previous thread i'm off to nepal and india and feel that perhaps i ought to have another crack at it?

any tips?

I'm not embarrassed to use mine. What do I care? Though I only use it about 30% of the time.

You can take a panorama without a tripod; just pretend to be a lighthouse.

Did I read a tip around these parts: just wear a fluorescent jacket with "Photographer" written on the back? Hide behind a uniform....,

The results with a tripod, for me, say who cares. Take it everywhere. And use the remote and shutter lock up when needed.

This, all of my shot's are taken on a Tripod with Mirror Up and a Remote. Never even thought about being embarrassed carrying a Tripod, don't see why anyone would be!

Though timed shot and/or live view is as good as remote release/mlu in most situations...

(And am off on hols in a couple of week's time. With the mrs, and no photographer mates to share the embarassment with!)

Rucksack.

Keeper of 1001 'useful' bits like knife, fork, spoon, bottle opener/corkscrew, 70-300 lens, tripod and cloths, etc.

Nope. 99% of my shots are off a tripod, even during the day, I get used to it, plus I find people a lot more amenable to not walking through your shot if you look like you've serious about it rather than just a happy snapper.

CamCane is your friend. They don't seem to do those anymore.....

Tripods are also monopods. Just don't set the legs out. Or set one.
