has anyone had any dealings with this place, I was looking for "Avenger F1000 Pump Cup with Baby Swivel Pin" and they seem quite cheap, oh also any idea if i would have to pay import tax etc

B&H are probably the best known most respected camera retailer in America, along side Adorama.

You will have to pay import duty if it gets clipped. Dont know if B&H will mark packages as returning from repair or whatever.

Superb shop......an absolute must if you are ever in NYC.

I doubt they will do anything to facilitate cheaper importing.

I've never purchased anything from them online but I did buy a Canon 100-400mm Lens from them when I went to NYC. Got it about £300 cheaper than I could in the UK.

Bought loads of stuff both over the web and in the NYC store - nothing but good experiences.

You have to go to the store to witness the mental conveyor belt system they use to get the stuff you buy to the tills!

I was parted from my beloved at least 3 times before it actually became mine!

Very respected store, not sure it would work out cheaper with duties applied etc.

Fantastic store ... I bought my first digital camera there back in 2001... and since then I have bought the odd lens or two from them as and when funds have allowed

Great shop, very helpful and they'll let you try goods out without hesitation. I've bought a few things from there, they have a good 2nd hand department too. I wouldn't hesitate to buy online, but I'd expect to pay import duties though (which vary depending on the product).

Two points:

1) Canon don't have a worldwide warranty, it's by region, so if you buy their goods from the US you'd need to ship them back if you have problems (and myabe have a US address, I'm not sure). Sigma warranty is worldwide, Tamron too I think.

2) BH Photovideo are closed on Saturday, because they're run by a Jewish family. So don't turn up on the wrong day like I did the first time, go on weekday or Sunday!

I thought Canon lenses had warranty worldwide but bodies didn't?

Oh if you go in person don't take the credit card, it'd be easy to leave a very poor man if you take a card

Absolutely! And if you are into model railways, you'd probably enjoy it even more ...

Great shop, well worth a visit if you are in NYC. They are a little cheaper than buying in the UK but not a huge amount, in my experience.

The fact that it is a Jewish-owned shop is a good call. It can and does close at unusual times.

Their site says they are out of stock of the lens I've been looking at so hopefully I will be safe!

Don't forget you will need to pay local sales tax in store. Being a Jewish store it is also closed on Saturday (as is Adorama).
Fotocare and Calumet are also worth dropping into if you are in NYC.
