Couldn't see this mentioned elsewhere so........

This was on BBC1 yesterday at 7:30pm and started with the line "One in five kebab shops pose a risk to your health".

Program on iPlayer here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01dlv4l/Food...

Thought it might be of use to the dirty takeaway pictures participants to check just how filthy their imminent takeaway arrival might be.

I checked the Chinese, Kebab and Indian nearest to me and all three had a rating of 1 - Significant improvements necessary. If not done then court action may be taken.

http://ratings.food.gov.uk/search/en-GB?sm=1

(One caveat - some of the ratings are a year old - hard to believe that they might still be current a year later?)

checked the local takeaways I use regularly, none below a 3 star rating smile

Several local old folks homes were rated 1 though ! are they trying to bump them off...

My local chinese is a pass as is one of the Indians I use, which is good. The other (best tasting) Indian requires improvement, although I haven't been back since I retrieved a 6 inch black hair out from my mouthful of food. We had guests that night, I took one for the team and kept it quiet. hurl

My nearest eatery (the Smith & Western on Box Hill) gets a 1 which I'm not at all surprised by.

The sign outside says 'Food served all day'.

I reckon anything you eat in there will more than likely have seen the light of several.

I find the scores on the doors website easier to use www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk

It even tells you the date of the last inspection.

The one star rating still hasn't put me off my local drink

Saw that and i noticed that the first place the guy went into was the pizza shop, it had the

stuck right on the shop front door
And that is the one reason i would never order through them.
If i don't know the shop it's coming from then i ain't going to order from them.

You choose where you order from on justeat. You could choose to have a delivery from your favourite takeaway.

It doesn't have the ratings on there though and if i wasn't at able to order from my local i would only end up having a dominos instead.

I watched this programme last night. Kind of expected what I saw tbh.
Had a look at my local fish & chip shop and they got a full 5. Oddly my local off license is on there, and they got a 5 aswell, even though they don't serve cooked/uncooked food.
Even on there is the primary school (full 5)

I'm quite surprised that two 'high-end' places near me (The Running Horses in Mickleham and Little Dudley House in Dorking) get a 1.

By contrast, the only place I've ever been ill after eating at (The Beachfront Cafe in Hayling Island) manages a 3.

I guess they must have got rid of their former chef, Typhoid Mary, after I registered a complaint with Environmental Health.

From the comments on the programme I think that any food storage was an issue, so if the off licence has a cellar with crisp boxes covered in rat st or damp then they would be marked down.

Most of the schools local to me have 'breakfast clubs' or tuck shops so they also get visited.

Ah balls, my local kebabery got a 1 star rating. Not too surprised!

Interesting to see some 'upmarket' restaurants perform poorly, whilst generally McDonald's, Subway are 5 star.

You seem a bit confused as to the purpose of Just Eat.

Not really, have seen many places I would not like to order from when pissed never mind sober.
I am however unable to find my regular curry house on any list.
The 3 singhs takeaway in Bradford.
Can anyone find it?

I think it only displays the 100 pages of matches, try clicking on the "Find Your Area" link to the right of the Search button to select the county/area first, then try the search, that may work?

Found it.

It's also on the justeat site, think they should add the scoring to the outlets that they have on listings.

i had a couple of chipshops and the highest we could get to was 4 stars.

Effectively the only way i could see ot get 5 stars would have been to cook everything from frozen in a microwave- would be very very hard for a busy commercial kitchen to get 5 stars.

I'll eat anywhere with 3 stars or over.

My local takeaway places all seem to be 4 or 5 star (5 star for the pizza chains, everything else is 4)
