Hi Guys

South Wales Pistonhead here so obviously new to these parts.

Basically as the title says, I am travelling up to Edinburgh following Wales in 2013 (March 8th-11th) and I was wondering what hotels are recommended?

We have been to Edinburgh a few times and stayed in a few hotels, the last one being the Three Sisters Hotel, this to me was ideal as it had a decent bar downstairs and offered comfortable rooms etc. It appears that this hotel is now fully booked already though?

My mate wants to stay in the Travel Lodge on Waterloo Place but I would prefer a hotel with a decent (busy) bar etc. and also in the heart of the night life, decent rooms and breakfast would be an obvious bonus, only cockels, laver bread and leaks obviously (I joke, I joke! A full ENGLISH will do us laugh).

Seems a bit odd looking at hotels 12m in advance, but we feel this will give us the best choice, us Welsh are mad for a beer fueled weekend away!!

Thanks for any advice and good luck against Italy Saturday!

It is a regular red invasion. Coming from Dumfries and working in Edinburgh it is impressive that you lot manage to mass invade many Scottish towns happy to be in the same country as the team is playing.
(Possibly to rugby what our Tartan Army troops are to football - but with a lot more success!)

Cannae specifically help with a hotel. I'd just aim for any of the hotels in the same area as the Three Sisters, or new town, or west end, or top of Leith. Thus keeping the main central drinking areas and your bed within staggering distance of each other.

Italy? Got a bad feeling. If the good points about this squad click they won't be a problem, but more of the same mistakes and we're in trouble. A shame, as overall I think they're close to being pretty good. It feels like Scottish rugby has fell behind badly for a long time compared to the other home nations and is trying hard to catch up. I don't think chopping and changing the coaching staff would be the answer.
I'd love to see us rattling our neighbours again threatening for the likes of tripple crowns and titles, but grand slams? Fantasy land for the time being!

The Royal Scots Club, 29-30 Abercromby Place is good and you get breakfast. Worth a look.

TBH, the Travellodge IS very well placed. There's an Apex right next to it though, if that's more appealing.
