recommendation for hotel lake district

advice sought. planning a weekend away and looking for a hotel with pool. i am guessing it's best to be central, ie lake windemere as i'd hopefully want to check out the roads/sights by day and a few drinks at night so ideally hotel would be located close to pubs restaraunt's for the evening. any ideas?
any help appreciated.
