Tough compact for £200

I need to buy a couple of cameras for work, budget is around £200 each.
The problem is that my work is offshore inspection and I don't know anything about compact cmaeras. We're currently using a panasonic lumix dmc-zx1 but after about two years it's on it's last legs due to grit ingress into the zoom.
It needs to be pretty good in low light
Have a fairly wide angle lens (the current one is 25mm equivelent and it's ok)
Take a lot of pictures on a charge
Pocket sized is a must
8X optical zoom or more
And most importantly of all it must survive constant use with muppets who don't bother cleaning the oily mess off their hands before using it. The current one actually has small dents on the end of the lens cover.
I would just get tough cameras but they don't have the zoom we need.
