Waterproof camera - any good underwater?

It's my first post in this section, so please go easy on me!

My Wife and I are about to go on Holiday to Egypt and I fancy trying some underwater shots. We will also be taking our Cannon 450D for our normal (dry!) photos.

I spotted a "waterproof" digital camera while shopping today so I bought it - a Fujifilm Finepix Xp30

When I got home I spotted the reviews on Amazon that absolutely slate it. Most people rated it one star, saying the camera filled with water when they tried to take underwater shots.

I'm not sure what to do now. I think my options are:

1) Take it straight back for a refund (I haven’t broken any seals on the packaging) and buy a disposable waterproof camera to try underwater shots

2) Just stick with it and give it a go on the basis that if it fails, it would be difficult for me to prove I didn't go too deep in the water, etc.

Has anyone used one of these budget waterproof digital camera for underwater shots?

I have no experiences of digital but I bought a disposable for a holiday once and it was fine for the job ...

There have been a few posts in recent months about waterproof cameras. We bought a fuji Z33WP to take on a holiday to Turkey. It was a great little thing. Had no problems with it in or out of the water and did manage some good underwater pics. It's very small too and would fit in any small bag or pocket. It cost us at the time about 80 squids....and I'm sure they'll be cheaper now. I'd certainly recommend it.
