Things to do- What's top of your wish list?

I bought my 1987 S1 last August (love at first sight!) and the list of things I'd like to do (to the car) has grown to frightening proportions. Bearing in mind it's for using & not for concourse shows only, what does the panel think is the best investment pleasure/cost wise?

I'm all ears

PS. Don't say petrol!

Hi, I'd say make sure the chassis is good before you spend any money on anything else. If you have the space and ability to do it, do a partial lift and see what it looks like. If you haven't send the car to RT or similar and make sure you have a thick wallet!

1)New starter motor and earth straps (happening Monday).
2)ACT manifolds and "Y" piece.
3)New shocks
4)A long hot summer...

Invest in a spare pair of front indicators if you can afford them

I would say spend less time on PistonHeads and more time
under the bonnet your getting behind, i should be back
on the road next weekend ish, you have lots to do don't
forget i will be coming up before Spa for a test drive

New rocker cover gasket , slight weep on forward edge,
ACT stainless manifolds,
Good clean up of interior , finally done the seat belt mod .

Thanks for your interest & advice guys. Points I've taken on board from your comments are:-
1. Chassis- Thoroughly checked as far as possible without body lift, has been very well cared for,
history shows replacement tank cradle and new rear traing arms & regular cleaning & waxoyling, outriggers show no signs of dreaded tinworm (yet...fingers crossed}.

2. Brakes, cooling system & suspension- Checking brakes this weekend. Could do with new brake servo, mine's quite corroded. I've seen all the posts on here on the subject thanks. M/cyl is fairly new.

Radiator also renewed recently. I'm thinking of a set of silicon hoses.
Note to Longers:- Do we need Silicon Lederhosen for laps of the 'Ring in May? Just thought I'd ask!

Suspension- Shocks & Springs all replaced some time ago, bushes looking tired. Powerflex definite possibility in the future.

3. Exhaust- waiting to be fitted when rain stops! Nothing like P/H on a wet day!

4. Wooly hat- already have a selection incl. official TVRCC purple number & a bright dayglo orange balaclava for when I wish to remain anonymous. Ideal for those crisp Jan/Feb days I enjoyed earlier

5. Spare front indicators? I'll cross that bridge when I come to it- I may be too old to take out another mortgage!

6. Rocker gaskets- mine were leaking, caused by inlet manifold gasket not being trimmed flush where rocker gaskets seat. I've replaced my corroded covers with a set I've refurbished.

7. Long Hot Summer- on order, perhaps if we all put an order in, supplier would make a big batch

you're gonna replace the v8 with a cosworth lump..? Or don't you have the v8 any more..? V6 or i4?

Oh no, I'm keeping the V8S. Just had the idea of having a go at building a V6 Cosworth as a project. Got to get numbers 1 - 4 sorted first though!

If you fancy doing a cossy conversion as a project you could finish mine and make some cash too. I hurt my back a couple of months ago and it is not getting better. Iam at the point where almost everything has been refurbished or purchased and needs putting back together.
