Eating (well) in Padstow.

We go to Padstow quite often and will be there in April. My partner Sara has a birthday whilst we're away so looking to book a nice meal.

Stein's seafood restaurant is fully booked already, No.6 I feel is a bit poky inside. St.Petrocs over at Rock was horribly expensive albeit nice. Anywhere else you can suggest that is really good for a nice sit down? Local fresh catches a real bonus!

Have done Outlaws thank you. We ate at the Bistro side and not the full linen service side Even so I came away thinking it was rather pricey for what was not astounding fare. Maybe it was just that night?

Not done Jamie's so will have a look when we're there.

Just wondered if there were any other local secrets that I've missed?

I thought no.6 was brilliant. One of the best meals I've ever had. Nice service, too. As you say, only thing letting it down is the feeling that 5 tabes have been crammed into a front room, which of course they have!
Be interested to know what you thought of the desserts in particular...

That is called "a taste of no.6" (for 2) & is the best dessert I've ever eaten.

Just whip down to steins chippy in the harbour. Cod bites (get more batter this way) and chips and head down to the beach.

Rojano's Italian is a nice (not to posh) place, The custom house do a nice crab sandwhich. We had a really nice meal at the Beach hut Cafe @ Watergate bay. My personal favioroute Padstow Cuisine is a Choughs pasty sitting by the harbour.

Steins is overpriced and not worth it IMHO.

I shared that with my Dad when I was there, was superb, particularly enjoyed the popping candy layer beneath the foam!

If you don't have to have a "name" restaurant then consider The Basement or Margots
as good if not better than the usual suspects

I went down last weekend for my Birthday. Nathan Outlaws for the tasting menu and wine flight was simply brilliant (but the bottle of champagne in the room before hand may have been my undoing as I am struggling to remember the last 2 courses). The decor was a little understated but the service and food were outstanding.
No6 was a let down, maybe it was because we had been to N O's the night before but I just felt it was really not all that good. A take away Monkfish and Chips from Stiens would probably have been a better bet.
