Carbon HT?

Been about 18 months since I did any serious pedalling as my back was giving me serious problems.

No problems now for a good while and I need to build myself up again to get out, perhaps doing some less serious runs however.

I currently have a Santa Cruz Blur LT Classic - but being honest keeping on top of bearings and a front and rear shock in the muddy Highland climes is costly and I just want simple fun again.

That added to a poor spread of decent bike shops who can do a job like putting bearings in mean I am considering selling the frame and going back to a HT.

All the gubbins will transfer straight over...

I am considering the on one carbon HT but has anyone got any experience of them? It seems light and a good robust frame.

It might seem odd going back to HT after a FS, but truthfully I never got on well with the disconnected feeling of the FS.

Are there any other alternatives I should consider?

Gave up on my Yeti 575, got a Carbon Stumpjumper. Love it. My son has in the last 2 years owned, Yeti, Scott Carbon Scale, Trek and Specialized' quality full susser's, still keeps one for our Wales trips. Now running a Scott carbon 29r and reckons it the most comfortable bike he's ever owned. Horses for course's, but he uses this more than anything. 3 mates also gone over to Carbon 29r's. Just my penny's worth.

seriously tempted with a deng fu off ebay to see what its like. there are enough people building chinese carbon frames off ebay now with loads of threads on bike radar for it to be a pretty low risk, hunt the threads down and have a look.

check out the Ibis tranny. not many of them around and Ibis frames are lovely things.
