Mika to return in a Williams?
Discussion
My question is he was losing motivation during his final year at Mclaren, I can't see hoe racing a williams in its current from will be any better. He's going to be fightin Ferrari, Renault, BAR, AND Mclaren!
He's still young enough, but if it doesn't go to plan then it'll be a shame. He left with wins in his final year so it was a good feeling overall.
A bit like Mansell. If only he retired with that Victory at Adelaide '94 rather than the farce races of 1995.
Also it seemed dtrange of Nige in a mclaren after so long in a williams.
Mika in a williams, kind of the same thing if you ask me...

He was very nearly a Williams driver in 1993

In 1993, Mika was supposed to drive for Williams with Alain Prost, but then some very strange things happened. First of all, Williams forgot to send an application to the FIA that confirmed that they intended to participate in the F1 World Championship in 1993. However, there is a rule that a team can be accepted to participate in a situation like that, if all the team managers from other teams sign a contract. But Lotus boss Peter Collins said he would only sign if Williams let go of Häkkinen. It was obvious that Williams had to let go of Mika so they could race next season. Eventually, they hired Damon Hill... Then Mika's options for 1993 were Ligier and McLaren. At Ligier, Mika would have been the number one race driver and at McLaren he would be the test-driver. Mika and Keke decided to gamble and chose McLaren.
