Flights to Tenerife
Discussion
Does anyone know of any carriers who fly (preferably direct) to Tenerife that have First Class or some sort of class except for coach?
We have flown there a couple of times with Easyjet and RyanAir but this year we wanted it to be a bit more special.
Failing that who are the best carrier (in terms of comfort and least hassle)?
cheers

I've just spent most of my lunch hour trying to prove that there must be more options to get there in a seperate cabin. But I have failed myself and the OP misserably.
I even looked to see if Monarch operate it with one of their split class jets but they don't seem to.
Monarch do fly there from Gatwick and when you check in online you can pick extra legroom seats for c.£20 per seat each way. This would be more comfortable than the traditional EasyJet or Ryanair route I'd guess.

Iberia fly Heathrow to Tenerife. They will have club but not first. A couple of years back I flew Gatwick to Madeira Iberia club class, pretty good.

Won't OP have to change in Madrid? That kind of defeats the object really. R.
Sorry OP, it's budget airlines only doing this route now.

Ah well looks like it will be Monarch with extra leg room.
Do Monarch do proper numbered seating? The rush to get on and sit together is something I would like to avoid if at all possible!

Yeah that is why I found. BA also do the route changing in Madrid but it nearly doubles the travel time. Not a great plan with 3 kids!

Yes they do - when you check in online you reserve the seats with extra legroom and then those are assigned to your boarding card, so no scrum when boarding!Ah well looks like it will be Monarch with extra leg room.

To the poster above, BA only fly via Madrid.

Personally, I would just go with whoever was cheapest (apart from Ryanair) and just bank the extra cash for treats on the holiday.

Warning - you may not be able to get extra leg room with the kids. It's possible these are emergency exit rows.

There are some which are exit row seats, but on my last flight with Monarch - the front 10-12 rows were purely extra legroom seats, so plenty of non-exit row seats.Personally, I would just go with whoever was cheapest (apart from Ryanair) and just bank the extra cash for treats on the holiday.
OP - you'll be fine with kids in these, just make sure you're early doing online check in for both flights and you'll be fine!

Thanks guys. Not ideal but certainly better than joining the scrums!OP - you'll be fine with kids in these, just make sure you're early doing online check in for both flights and you'll be fine!

That is exactly what i've done for my flights to Tenerife which are next Friday. Managed to get on the first row, window and middle seat for me and my missus. Will let you know if it was worth the extra cash.
Business in Europe, your generally just paying for flexibility, lounge access, and an extra bag.
I cannot fathom why folk justify paying to sit in the front of a ratty 737 or A319 with the middle seat blocked.
Check in online, if there's two of you take an aisle and window 3/4 of the way back. You'll get the middle seat free most of the time on a scheduled flight. Folk are obsessed with sitting near the front so they can wait for their bags longer.
As someone has mentioned, spend on the hotel, you'll get infinitely more for your hard earned.

I assumed most people there get upgraded based on which travel agent their firm uses. A friend of ours works for the Government and always gets upgraded. He even got upgraded when he flew to Italy with BA for his honeymoon.sneijder said:

We've paid £50 each to sit at the front on our flights to Tenerife and back. A small amount to pay really for the leg room afforded by sitting at the front (i hope!). Me and my missus aren't tall, but if i was over 6' i'd definitely pay the extra no matter how far i was travelling.I cannot fathom why folk justify paying to sit in the front of a ratty 737 or A319 with the middle seat blocked.

Well it was worth the little outlay for the legroom and not having anyone reclining their seats infront of you, but it was rather annoying listening to the cabin crew clattering about most of the time, and sweaty people queuing for the toilet!
Cool thanks for the feedback!Mark
