Loads of info out there Mark.

Get yourself onto 911uk.com and click on the 964 forum.

boxsey, ras62 and the other lads have experience of nearly all the options. They're on here too mind if you wait long enough.

Rennlist is good too. smile

The way I have it decided now is -

For track - PSS* coilovers or KW3s.

For road - Bilsteins with H+R springs or there's a new option of KW1s which are apparently very good.

Have a click on Carnewal.com for some good deals. smile

All depends on what you want to do with the car and what you want to spend. I went with KWV3 on mine to give it a good compromise for road and track. It has been THE best upgrade I've had put on the car. I also had the wishbones re-bushed with poly bushes at the same time. The original bushes will be very floppy by now so it's worth having them done. You can either go original but you have to buy the complete wishbones which are expensive or you can have them polybushed for a bit less. However the poly bushes are a bit harsher and are likely to not last as long.

Well mainly road use, the odd trackday, I did have adjustable shocks on my TVR but once they were set set up I never changed the setting so was thinking of maybe non for the Porsche , I am having the wishbones poly bushed as we speak, do I need to look at anti roll bars?

As Steve says depends on the usage but for what it is worth on my road car I had standard Porsche springs, dampers, arb, wishbones etc plus standard ride height and the car drove absolutely beautifully on the road for the 40K miles I put on it. Porsche set the car up as standard about right for the UK roads IMO.

A friend has gone a much more trackday biased setup using KW3s and has been very pleased with it.

I had the same dilemma last year after I bought my 964. After looking at all the options available I went with the KW V1s.

The KW V1 is basically the same as the KW V3, but without the adjustable dampers. Decided that as my car was mainly for road use with the occasional track day, a) the added expense of the V3 wasn't justified and b) I didn't really want the adjustability; I haven't got the patience to tinker with the settings - just want to drive biggrin

The V1s have been fabulous. The ride is firm but not uncomfortable, and that's with my car running on 18" Speedline reps (for the road - I have a set of lightweight 16" cups for the track). Also, I've managed to get the ride height exactly where I wanted it.

After much investigation (read dithering!) I decided on the KW variant 1. The quality of the KW shocks is excellent, the choice between V1 or V3 is a personal one. If you want adjustability for track work then V3, however as the V1 is an optimised V3 to start with and knowing I wouldn't use the adjustment I decided on the V1. They are also some 5-600 pounds cheaper, so I also installed H&R anti roll bars, new drop links, wishbone bushes and new top mounts. The end result is very impressive.
N.B. that whatever way you choose to go you will only see the benefit with a full geo set up with corner weighting, so unless the place you are buying the car from are experts in doing this with the 964 then have the suspension work done elsewhere.

Best bang for buck and compromise for mainly road/odd track day in my opinion is Bilstein running H&R springs. Quality kit and run them on my 964 turbo for few years now and still feel as good as day i fitted them..
Eibach springs were a no no for me (did not drop the ride height they qouted, even with struts at lowest ride height setting)

Good to hear. Yes get the ARB bushes changed at the same. The stock C2 bars are 20mm at the front and either 21mm (before 1991) or 20 mm (1991 onwards) at the rear.

I paid £700 from OPC but they didn't fit my double sprung H&R set up, now I'm stuck with them so would take half price to get rid of them plus postage smile
Great deal!

I'm on Billies and H+R greens, good road setup, not so good on track, IMHO. SO2's are noisey on the road, I've 17's and 18's, good grip and progressive letting go, but noisey.
