If the Steve McQueen car came onto the market now, I think it is anyone's guess as to what it would make. But I'd be surprised if it didn't break the record for the highest price paid at auction for any Jag.
One of the others was valued for insurance at about £4M a number of years back.
As for replicas, well they'll vary hugely. I think Lowdrag was saying the Lynx XKSSs (also very rare) are making well north of £250K, if you hunt back through his XKSS thread I'm sure he posted a figure.

The XKSS in France is definately genuine.
It belonged to my uncle who was a resistance leader in the war and a noted amateur racer in the 1950's despite having lost both arms and legs in an air raid.
He offered it to me in 1978 but I didn't like the colour so I bought his Maserati 300S which I later traded for a brand new reliant Robin. Happy days.

Sadly your right ... I worked that one out after about 2 mins on wikipedia.
Just curious as the car in question was parked in a normal car park and in use apparently, what made it a touch more interesting is that the car is RHD as well so would assume a UK built car at sometime as oppossed to a renault engined contraption of some sort.

All XKSSs are RHD, along with all C and D types. Some of the replica companies will no doubt make you a left hooker, I never come across a D or XKSS rep as a LHD car, I think Proteus make/made a LHD C.

Ah, but that wonderful D-type had twin fins and was owned by Mike Hawthorn, wasn't it? 
All 16 XKSS's are accounted for, and if we are talking 1,000€ you won't even get half a a wheel, let alone a complete one, for that price. I know of a very nice replica (owner/builder died suddenly) for sale at £45,000 but that is in fibreglass, but expertly built since it was his seventh replica and he was a mechanic.
But post the pics for us to look at so we can tell you more. It isn't your thing, but we can at least tell you what we are looking at and the value. However, without wishing to be rude, after the last spurious claim I hope you aren't just yanking our chain and wasting our time.
Oh, and the very first XKSS is for sale at JD Classics at a reputed asking price of £5 million. And if you don't like the XKSS you'll understand the reasoning, looking at your profile. A Lynx D-type is about £125,000 and a Lynx XKSS is about £250,000. It costs around £30,000 to convert the D into an XKSS. Seems to make sense to me, but then I have had several D-types and never owned an XKSS - until now. A tax-free retirement fund really.

I like plenty of the old stuff but do prefer the modern classics for sure, the XKSS just does not do it for me whereas an Etype is on my list of onedays, can understand your reasoning behind wanting to alter your car to accomodate your needs, but I prefer the looks of your Dtype personally.
Very good friend (living in France) of some thirty years knowing I am into cars saw this old car and asked me if I knew it and how much it would be worth as he was told by someone it was worth a lot of money, I had never heard of the car before but as I say a quick google had me on the right path, today hearing values and now knowing they only made 16 I would be very suprissed / horrified in fact if it was a real one.
From what I can see it looks like a fibreglass copy albeit a very old one.
Reading your other thread you obviously know what they are all about and I guess even a copy however bad is of interest to you.
I dont know of the other wind up threads.
I can never get pictures on here unless from my iphone, im not very good with IT stuff.
