I'm struggling to find a GTS in the spec i want but have found one that is pretty much there save no Bose. Does anyone have experience of the standard system vs Bose. I will be doing few long trips but do like a good sound system. I am sure one will turn up soon but having made my mind up to get one I am now getting impatient!!!!

In my experience if you want a car with a decent sound system then don't buy a Porsche as they are all a bit rubbish. I would like to know if they have improved matters in the new 911

Mine has the standard system and to me it's fine - I like to have decent sound systems but wouldn't describe myself as a connoisseur - I really wanted Bose but now I've heard the standard system, I'm not sure it's worth bothering with Bose even if it's better because the std one is just fine for use in a car and plenty loud enough!

Bose implementation is better in other cars and if it didn't come with my current car, I wouldn't miss it.

Depending on whether you are likely to have a Porsche warranty in place, there are many different options for replacing the head unit.

My old C2S had Bose and my current GTS does not. I've not missed it at all.

I have Bose in my GTS and have to say that it's not worth the money IMHO, I wish I hadn't specced it as the sound quality is tinny when compared to the premium system in my Discovery 4 which includes DAB, something I would definately pay for in future cars. I'd rather listen to the engine in any event, so don't worry about BOSE, better options for me would be PDCC and LSD.

I ripped out my BOSE and got the best Auto Audio installer in the world (no joke) to fit the best sounding system.... That's a long story and I am getting the pics in order for a full post. It is absolutely incredible.

So that aside, the BOSE is better than the standard system but it won't have to you dancing in your seat. If you want to go aftermarket later don't bother with Bose now, however be aware that if you do go aftermarket you won't be able to apply an Extended Warranty to the car and you may have to return it back to original stereo before selling.

Problem with Bose or no Bose, is not the sound system. It's the fact the GTS has as much road noise transmitted into the cabin that any sound system is going to be rendered fairly useless except when the engine is off.

Bose is better than standard, but it would not be a make/break decision point for me if the rest of the spec were right on. Most important options IMHO are things like extended leather dash/seats, Sports Chrono, LSD, etc

Bose used to be important when the standard system didn't even include door speakers.

My 2010 Gen2C2 had bose, my GTS is standard - can hardly tell the difference TBH.

I enjoy the sounds of the intake and exhaust too much anyway smile

Eh? Wasn't an option on my GTS - yours must be very special wink

You're right JP my car is special, but not that special! I meant PASM with diff lock, which cost about the same as Bose on the options.

i was only teasing - I thought that's what you meant. I think Bose is too expensive for what it is in a 911 - and sound package plus or whatever the std system is called is good enough IMHO.

BOSE should be standard on any 80k+ car!

I've got the SPASM with mechanically locking diff for the price of a BOSE and it doesn't sound even a tiny bit better. Just as big a waste of money...

As should DAB be. But it isn't, nor indeed is it an option.

Not being funny but Bose is hardly the word in audiophile circles, and I'm not talking in-car stereos here. I'm not surprised that Porsche have started offering a Burmeister option in this regard.

I have Bose in both my cars and it is noticeably better in my Cayenne Diesel, which may have a lot to do with it being a larger and much quieter cabin.

Lack of DAB on modern Porsches is utterly ridiculous. A boggo spec Mini One I had as a loan car not so long ago had DAB!
