being a smoker and about to suffer an 8hr flight I have purchased one of these new electronic cigarretes, and must admit its very good, in fact its so realistic I`m worried that the manufacturers claims of being able to use these on a plane are true, has anyone on here tried this without any problems?

appreciate you may all be very healthy and not smoke at all, which is great, but would appreciate not being told to just give it uphehe

I've never actually seen anyone using one on a plane but here's a link that might help. I think you'll have problems either way. I just pop a patch on

thanks, I have visions of using it on the plane, then getting jumped on by hoards of angry passengershehe
I`ll ask the flight attendants and see what happens, I have the old nicarette inhaler as a back up.

I was on Ryanair a few weeks ago and they were selling them on the plane (or something similar as they were in cig boxes and could be had in flavours such as virginian etc)

If you're worried about people mouthing off about you using one in the cabin, just use it in the loo. It won't set off the smoke alarm as there's no smoke!

Had mine taken off me on a flight to Cuba. As Marf says just use it in the toilet area.

Some people might not like it as it gives off a slight musty smell from the vapour.

But that's usually masked by the general reek of a smoker

spoke to virgin today, a definate no no, these still give off "a smoke" so no smoking rule applies.

Easy Jet said during their pre flight announcement that the smoking ban includes electronic cigarettes...

I've just received my e-cig kit last night.

Generally very impressed with the thing, only had 1 cig this morning when I stepped outside for one.

On a plane... I'd just do as someone else has posted, head to the loos and have a few puffs there. The vapour is not going to set of an alarm and it saves upsetting anyone. There's no residual smell from the e-cigs either so the person coming in after you is not even goin to know you've had one.

The Ryanair ones are probably these inhalable type things:

Quite how much nicotine you get out of it is probably debatable!

When I used to smoke, I would use lozenger's for long-haul flights, always took the edge off.

This stuff has helped me out on numerous long haul flights. Way more effective than patches or nicorette IMO.
