Aliens, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

It started with santa claus, then aliens and last year it was the tooth fairy, im running out of imaginative tales to tell the kids they are getting suspicious, so what is that green ray over the wharf?

Weird, as I was standing next to the observatory when I took that shot....

The beam goes north from fairly high up on the observatory, and you're looking north-west so it would cut across your view. I assume the observatory was on your left?

Seen here at its source, as soon as I heard about it it went on my location hitlist for startrails. I was slightly east of the meridian line for this shot but had I got directly beneath it the curve of star trails would have been symmetrical along its length, due to it marking the divide between east and west.

Yep, I was standing on the viewing gallery, the touristy bit. To the casual eye, it looks like it emanates from beyond the Dome as the beam is stronger. I think another more thorough visit is in order, I need to get this straight.

Thats a nice 'source' shot, has it been modified in any way?
