997 PDK

I took my gen 1 997 carerra S 6 speed manual in for a service the other day and was given a nice new 997 gen 2 PDK 7 speed jobbie as a courtesy car! Not bad at all.

I had the car for 3 days and drove it quite a bit. General comparisons:

1) Surprised how much faster it was! As it only has a bit more power, I thought I would not notice, but I really did! Not fast enough that I feel the need to upgrade, but it did feel relatively quick.

2) I liked the PDK a lot more that I thought I would! I hate (and I mean HATE) auto gearboxes and thought this would be more of the same. It was a nice fast shift and when you put it in sport plus mode it felt ready for the track! Always in a low gear and very fast pickup when it kicked down after flooring it.

3) I still would not get a PDK. I felt a bit like I was playing on a computer driving game. It all felt a bit too easy. I guess I would get used to it, but somehow I think I would always pine for a manual gear box.

I am sure this has come up on here many times, but as a newbie to both posting on here and after losing my PDK virginity this week, I thought I would make a quick post.
