Pro 2 freehub tightness

I've just swapped the axle on my rear Pro 2 from a QR to a 12mm and now the freehub mechanism feels much more reluctant to spin than it did before. Everything feels the same as it did before, it just doesn't want to freewheel for as long as it did before the swap.

Am I right in thinking that taking the freehub body off will have just spread the grease around a bit and made it stickier inside? So it should just free up over time? I know filling it with grease will quieten it so I'm hoping it's the same idea. I just don't want to go out on it if something isn't right.

Hopefully someone has come across the same thing!

Yes- the bearings are poorly aligned. Disassemble and reassemble.

did you forget the spacer?

Sounds like it could be the bearings. The spacer definitely went back in.

I'll take it apart and start again tomorrow to be sure.

good luck, changing hub bearings can be a pain.

FWIW, even with my personal (high) levels of mechanical ham-fistedness, I found servicing the Hope Pro 2 hubs to be as straightforward as the bloke demonstrates on the Hope tech video.

But I did splash out on the right 'ttting' tools - the Hope stuff for belting things on/off right, and I can imagine it would be hard(er) without them.

That's it sorted. Right enough one of the bearings just wasn't perfectly straight.

Running much nicer now.
