Setting up the front mech on a full sus.

Something I learned over the course of this week, which I thought I'd share with you as it's had me pulling my hair out and if I can save someone the same headache it's worth the couple of minutes to post.

I have a Turner 5 spot frame that I've been slowly building, which has been proving to be an utter PITA WRT setting up the front mech; it simply wouldn't index without rubbing.

After finally confirming what the chain line should be I started again from scratch this lunch time and still had the same issues. However, I decided to whip it off the stand and have a quick pedal on it as I also need to set the sag on the shock. With the suspension compressed there is no rubbing at all. Back on the stand, and it's rubbing again.

So my tip, if you have a full sus frame you're building up and are struggling to index the front mech, take it off the stand and ride it as it may well be properly indexed after-all.
