MPG prediction?
Discussion
Chimaera 450 on megasquirt tuned to 274 @ wheels.
A boot full of junk, on Nitrons and SP12s and old T1Rs.
I will tank to the brim tonight in Portsmouth to head 331 North to Gods Country.
The plan is to take it relatively easy but 'normal' motorway cruising speeds..... 85 ish
.
So what do we think MPG wise.
I reckon 24 mpg traffic permitting = about £90 worth of V-power.

Keep it under 3k on a steady run and u should see 27-28 mpg i would think. If you slow it down even more i think you could see 30mpg and lay off the gas lol
I will be laying off the gas if i can. Got full bottles on board ready for Shakey on 31st.According to my calcs 3000 rpm = about 77mph. Thats a little slow for me on the motorway. I at least want to run with the 3rd lane reps. 3300 rpm is about 85.
The last 30 miles into Barrow on tha A590 will be difficult. The lead foot is enticed by the bottle of red at home.
I think my days of breaking timing records on the road are over. I will save it for the strip.
Recent bad luck?
I always have some sort of bad luck but its been quite mild recently.
The car took a bit of a hammering last Sunday with the guys from the Blackpol region.
There is probably some damage under the rear due to the amout of bottoming out i did.
I will be raising the car at least an inch all round tomorrow and getting the geo checked.
Lots of other stuff to sort out before Shakey also

Set at the right height wwith the correct springs, you won't bottom out, standard springs are rubbish!Recent bad luck?

Was that a PH eearly run?
Went on one last year, 7 am on a Sunday but only had my chipped vRS to hand.
Must have bottomed it 6-8 times, mostly over the ton down country lanes

!I think the car has 'settled' since TrackvRoad set it up.
The run out was TVRCC Blackpool. SIngle track roads over the trough of Bowland dodging sheep and outrunning Astons.

So that'll be about 350/425 which is fine, probably too soft damping, (or too much chilli and beer!).
Probably the best part of 100kg in the boot! Also the ride height is very low. Was commented on next to another Chim on the day.
My exhaust bolt hangs low and hits the tarmac first. The exhaust also needs work, its twisted and the left tailpipe sits about 40mm too low so that hits also.
Just teething problems to be sorted for 2012. You know how it is

Will yours be ready for Shakey Peter?

I've promised myself to drop the engine in on Saturday!
Work really quiet next week so may take a couple of days off to complete.
I hope you get it sorted and running better than ever.Work really quiet next week so may take a couple of days off to complete.
Maybe you will beat my 12.41 and stop sulking

Then again maybe i will hook up and run 12.2 NA.
Setting off at 4:15 onto a busy M27. I would put the roof down but the boots full of nitrous bottles!
Lot of traffic tonight and made the mistake of being too tight for the toll road.
So the car has done about 800 miles in the last week. Its ran fantastic albeit a bit rich according to the wideband. My fault for not resetting the throttle sensor properly.
But back to tonights experiment.
I added 20 ltrs on the way home and guess it will take 40 ltrs to fill. Its got a little more than when i filled it with 42 ltrs last week. Not exact but ok for an estimate for now.
So 60 ltrs for 330 miles = 25 mpg.
I must admit i drove the last 70 miles with quite a bit more urgency so all in all not bad i reckon.
