That is a rep. Reality nowadays I think north of £100K to build a proper car

Really ? Paul Stephens has a couple of in house built cars sold for alot less that that but I guess their cars are based on 3.2 engines

£80k !!!! byebye

That seems an awful lot for a not particularly accurate replica of anything. I would imagine that it would be quite a handful with that engine too. May explain why it has been available since the summer and still there.

Regardless of the build cost, would this really fetch more than £50k? I think it would struggle. There was a nice yellow car at SCoM recently at under £50k by way of comparison.

Yeah I recon well under 50k gets u one. The one at Stephens was under 35k but I guess it depends on spec

35k is doable for a cosmetic rep, but you're not far off that for just the motor in an FIA spec ST rep.

I don't doubt the Canford Classics car would cost 80k to build. 100k soon goes if you bare metal, fabricate panels, rewire, build a hot motor and box etc.

I'm not interested in a FIA hardcore race car but something with the looks yet more reliability but still has poise and an engine that excites.

You could build a cosmetic rep then save up £10k for a tasty motor later down the line.

Alan @ Canford is a complete perfectionist, I know a bloke who had work done by him, the attention to detail is phenomonal.

Agree the build cost on these cars can be very high but I think that is an issue for the original owner/builder to consider. If you want a car built to your spec, this is the price you have to pay. Unless someone wants exactly the same spec car, they are unlikely to pay anywhere near what it costs for an ST rep when a little flexibility on colour / spec would make good cars available at close to half that.

I can see an argument for someone like Canford Classics to build the car to showcase their work though, nothing like a rolling advert for your work.

FWIW I have heard mixed reports on Canford Classics. Their main work seems to be project management and re-assembly as most of the work is farmed out and people have had a few issues. Wouldn't stop me buying their work though, I would just get it very thoroughly checked (as I would with any car).

that golf blue one is an ideal colour but spec is more important to most id say. Anyway worth looking out for

Given that PS autoart can do you a cosmetic backdate car for £35k, why not just talk to them?
The two that were featured in 911 & PW last month were lush, I think the black one went to a PH'er an all. Bear in mind they are grp rather than metal mods, and they are cosmetic rather than the full house repros PS autoart can do.

Have a shufty round ddk-online too.
Sam @ PS autoart is already aware fo this thread.
