My mum and sister are travelling to Argentina in a weeks time for 3 weeks. I know it's getting a little hot over there regarding the Falklands war and just wanted opinions on how safe it will be.

So long as they don't walk round screaming about the Falklands they'll be fine I should think. The majority of the population don't really care that much it would seem. Make sure they register with the embassy though, just in case.

It will be totally safe. I have been going for 25 years and the only one person has ever said anything (something like she'd keep my passport but it's OK because we've got the Malvinas)and that was a long time ago. I speak to Argentina on a weekly basis and discussed the matter today actually and I get the impression most people there know what's going on.

By the way you will find that you can't buy a Big Mac in Argentina so that inflation cannot be measured by reference to the BigMac index. Great place though - I love it.

IIRC they will sell you a Big Mac, it's just not on the menu. It stays off the index that way.
