1963 Simca 900 (1000)
Discussion
In the 60's there was a French guy who drove one of these for many miles (km I s'pose)on 2 wheels around various Frech towns and villages to set a 2 wheel record. Must have had a locked diff...
I remeber seeing a programme on tv of it with him nonchalantly driving with one hand on the gutter holding a fag - obviously a Gitanes or Disque Bleu.

Forgot about the two wheeled driving Simcas, entertaining stuff like this would just not happen today !!I remeber seeing a programme on tv of it with him nonchalantly driving with one hand on the gutter holding a fag - obviously a Gitanes or Disque Bleu.
Well basically the car looks like this just with rust :-) I have a mate making a few old Spa circuit stickers and are on the lookout for the blue overalls, then I’m set for pre 66 Lavant bank Goodwood Revival 2012 ....
Of course I need to make it to the circuit..

Ohh and I have a Paris 75 plate to finish it off...

o/t Do they still sell Gauloises? I remember seeing a programme on tv of it with him nonchalantly driving with one hand on the gutter holding a fag - obviously a Gitanes or Disque Bleu.
That was dad's brand back in the day... "short, wide, unfiltered and gave off a strong and distinctive smell."
on/t Years later we had a 1000 as a company car. It seemed pretty nice to me, what do I know I was 12
All I really had to compare to it was our 1950 Plymouth, and the Dauphine we once had.goodwoodweirdo said:

My old man and I had Simcas at the same time he had 1973 1000 Special (green) and I had 1974 1000 Rallye 1 (white) They both had the same 1294cc 60bhp engine if memory serves. Of course I need to make it to the circuit..
