When in Pompey? Tunnel run anyone?
Discussion
Dd that as the initial stage with the London 'Tunnel Runners'. Worth the drive, and the A3 is nice enough in the dry too...
Handy services on the left coming back into London for a stop off and debrief along with a coffee. Just a thought
Could be tempted back if you guys get a time/date sorted

We would be coming from the South. Maybe a good place to stop before turning for the rerun back.
From the south the services are a few miles before the tunnel - good meeting place, then a run up to the tunnel, blast 70mph through, double back at either Thursley or the next junction and stop at southbound services for a chin wag.
Would love to join you but opp north tonight, then my work life balance is not balanced for the rest of the week

Just happened to come to work in the TVR this week Dom is all.
Best take the opportunity.
I am new to this tunnel run malarchy.
So if its a 70 limit I guess hitting the red line in 2nd gear on gas with full decat and sleeved box will be ok.
They are average speed cams down there, so you can 'manage' your way around them...Best take the opportunity.

Maybe worth a post in the South Coast forum, I've known a friendly Bobby to pop in.

After a fun day with the Blackpool TVRCC I drove the Chimaera down to Portsmouth this week.
I think I am tempted at a run up to the Hindhead tunnel one of the nights.
Ive also got my camera and windscreem mount.
Seems a shame not to

Just be careful, when it was opened there was a lot of BiB activity in the area with people doing just that. Not sure if they still are but possibly not worth risking.

No one other than the on-site hi-vis jacketed official who was clearly in spectator mode. Expect he spotted the string of earlybird keen beans and their tuneful exhaust notes coming on the cams...Maybe worth a post in the South Coast forum, I've known a friendly Bobby to pop in.
That said, you're not wrong. The tunnel has attracted some more-than-average attention from the BiB fuelled by unhappy locals...
maybe be up for this if local, not 100% sure where I'll be working after tomorrow, but as I'm only 10 miles away it would be rude not to
Here is a little taster from last year not long after it opened, in fact IIRC only southbound was open at the time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gX84TchTFg

I know when approaching from the London side, you can head through, then jump straight off, turn round and head back ( up towards London).
Assuming it's a Pompey thing, it might mean a slightly different format is required?
If I can make the date, I'll be blatting over from Kent; let me know if you're over that way...

Looks like I sparked some interest. Hopefully we can organise this better for a get together some other time.
As I said tho folks, I am only down here this week and have little opportunity.
So I think I will be heading up from Portsmouth tonight.
Tomorrow is bottle fill night and Thursday is the night of temptation to drive home.
