Spent the whole day cleaning the engine bay whilst the engine is out.
The black areas have seen better days and despite a multitude of degreasers, they could really do with repainting in satin black.

Anyone done this themselves, and of so, what type of paint did you use? I'd presume that it needs to be high temp resistant but I'm struggling to find anything suitable in a rattlecan.

Hamirite will work fine.

Painted my old cars rockers and plenum in it and my brake calipers in it as well and they help up just fine and i am sure they got pretty hot as well.

I re-sprayed my engine bay with Satin black in a rattle can from Halfords.
The fiberglass doesn’t get hot enough to warrant high temp paint.

Standard stuff is fine. I used matt black epoxy primer, brushed on and it looks really good.

Thanks people!

Looks like rattlecans are ok then. It's not looking too shabby but several areas are thin, and some staining which I can't make disappear without sanding it back. I might as well get is sorted while the engine is out!

You will find that half of the black on the inner wings is satin black spray and the other half original black gel/resin from when the bodyshell was made. A good flat with dry 1000s and scotchbrite and a paint with an aerosol will make all the difference.
