Hi Guys

I was wondering if any of you on here know these two chim's?

http://nearly-new-cars.co.uk/car-Tvr-Chimaera-4.5-...

http://www.compucars.co.uk/used-cars/tvr/chimaera/...

I had put down a deposit on a Chimp 500 (w-2000) with 18500 miles where the dealer was asking £10995 but the more I think about it the more I feel its too good to be true, plus external pressure has forced me to review my finanes a bit!:-(
If anyone lives near either of these cars would they be prepared to meet up to check them out or at lease ensure this newbie doesn't get ripped off!

Cheers guys

...For me, the T plate car at 'Compucars' would be worth a look.

However, I was at 'Halo Cars' in Ombersley in Worcester yesterday looking at
a golf for SHMBO and they had a imaculate Chimaera 400HC there in starmist green.
I know that is a fair distance for you, but it really looked stunning.

Hope this helps.

No servicing for nearly 5 years! Be prepared to dig deep! Are you after ultra low miles? Try and find a known car with ok miles ie a used but cherished example, privately..?

Hey there Blackpool Rocker,
It funny you should mention Halo Cars because I was there a month ago (with a Tuscan Freind of mine)looking over a silver 450 that belonged to the owner. I didn't go for it as it as I didn't feel it had my name on it (if you know what I mean) plus there wasn't enough history too so I walked away.

As regarding distance... I think that you have to travel the distance for the right car..don't you agree?;-)

Hi Zanshin.
Looks like its a small world!
The silver Chimaera was there, but to be honest it was put firmly in the shade by
the Starmist Green 4.0HC that was parked next to it. The car certainly was imaculate,
there was not even a stone chip on the bonnet that I could see and the interior was
perfect. I casually asked about it and told it was locally owned by a fastidious owner
with full history and a big thick folder full of history. I didnt ask the price though
as I was VW Golf shopping!!

If you are looking for a tidy car, this is THE one you need to see.

Made me go home and go for a roof off blast in mine!

Hi Blackpool Rocker

Its a bloody mine field out there isn't it! Trying to sort out the wheat from the chaff...its so hard when you go and look at these cars, hear that exhaust note and your hooked..LOL
So far I have been to see 5 in the last 2 months and the one's that stuck out are

http://www.usedcar.co.uk/sales/10029-blue-tvr-chim...
My Tuscan friend said that I should of gone for this but it had no history plus the mileage was very vague to say the least. With the right owner(who has the cash and time) I think it would turn out to be a really nice Chim 500.

The next one was this 400.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-TVR-Chimaera-4-0-p-...
This one was a lot better even though its a 400, it shows that the previous owners have looked after it. The Dealer is going to send me images of all the documents and history.

Lastly was this one..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-Chimaera-Convertible...

The car was very nice but felt the dealer was not telling me the whole truth about the history plus he wasn't prepared to budge on the price when asked so I walked on.

I have just looked at the green one at Halo, its nice but not for me as I want the Facelift model(personal preference sorry!).

...I would have to say the T plate one from Ebay even though the dealer wont move on the
price it does look the best and as everyone will tell you on here, its all about vehicle
condition.

I do think that to buy any car (never mind a TVR) with no history and vauge mileage my be
something you regret, and lets face it you are spending the best part of ten thousand pounds
so it does need to be superb right from the word go.

Shame about the car at Halo, it really is one of the best that I have seen (well, next to mine
anyway) and this does need to to a fellow Pistonheader as it looks a great entry into TVR
ownership.
