Sad news reported by Autocar today. Russell Bulgin, the (IMO) very talented motoring writer lost his battle with cancer last week.

The chap had a unique writing style and will be greatly missed.

Wasn't a regular Autocar reader, but I remeber enjoying a number of his articles (didn't he previously write for another mag?) and am sad to hear the news.

Very sad, what a loss.
He had been writing for a long time very interesting articles, and not without a certain sense of humour.

I'm pretty sure he used to write for/edit Performance Car, before it went away. Might be mistaken though - it was a few year ago!

I used to enjoy his articles in EVO, very sad to hear of his death at a young age.

Just heard the news. He will be sorely missed. The writing style was inimitable, from Performance Car, via Evo, Car and Autocar.

The guy even made the thought of running an Nissan Micra Automatic on long term test sound (vaguely!) appealing, yet could capture the details of the almost fetishistic desire to set lap records on Gran Turismo 3, and all cover all bases in between and still find time to poke fun at the seating position of most Nova drivers.

RIP RB

Yeah, Russell wrote with real style, mainly in the pages of CAR magazine. I remember him 'trying out' on Top Gear or Drivel once, but his flair better suited the written page.

Sad news.

I have the theme night on the Mini that Russell did. It was very funny. Russell was a great writer and not bias towards any manufacturer because someone lent him a free car.

A sad loss

Sad news... I remember that Micra article, not always the most popular writer, but always an intersting read, and always worth the read.

Very sad news - did not know he had been ill. I've read his articles from his days on Autocar through to Evo. Always had a unique slant and wit. Will be missed.

Opinionated, sometimes controversial, very accurate and never dull.

One of the good guys, he will be missed.

A bit late for the comments (as you chaps have already said it), but will be sadly missed. I always enjoyed his articles over the years - often finding the real meaning with cars and our love / hate for them - completely by-passing anything that the manufacturers might like us to believe.

A shame.
