SoundCloud - it just gets better.
Discussion
Anyone else using this website? Brilliant tracks, completely free of charge.
No account required, no adverts/ commercials/ banners/ pop-ups et al - just music, easily streamed.
I visited this website last summer, and found it to be "alright" - couple of random 4-minute songs - nothing special.
However, I've had a snoop this evening and found they do entire shows!
Not normally one for house music, but this guy is playing some brilliant tracks.
My bestestest find thus far!

Give it a few mins to get going, you'll soon get absorbed.

Begs the question then, of how are they making a profit/ remaining sustainable?
I'm not experiencing any issues with bandwidth - unlike youtube which some stops/ goes/ stops/ goes, this is (so far) seamless streaming.
The quality sounds fantastic, it's not filled with crap and the comments are regarding the upload - both constructive and criticism.
This, to me, beats the likes of last.fm
No account.
No restrictions/ constrictions/ regulations - just music, and lots of it.

You can upgrade to a premium account which comes with a load of benefits. Unlimited upload times, promoted to the front page etc. I'm on a standard account at the minute but I would upgrade if I have money. I also think they take donations, they have adverts as well.
Even if you aren't uploading music, might be worth making an account so you can follow people you like; they appear on your home page as incoming tracks which saves a load of time. No faffing about with activation either.
I love it and think it's one of the best places to both get my music out there and listen to other people. The download feature is invaluable.

Fantastic site. My favourite find on there is Bird (username BirdOfficial).

Thanks for posting this - I'd been looking for a place to host my band's new demo material and this is perfect!
Definitely the place to go.Makes your realise just how bad MySpace has become.. takes too long to load pages, plus I hate it whne they get the music playing automatically.
If you're decent, post the link of the upload

Alfanatic - had a listen to bird... not bad, not my cuppa mind - but she has a nice voice (also reminded me of the Magic Numbers a little.)
Heading off there now for some more ubheard of electronic funk, wa-hay!

Well, please don't consider this immodest, but in case anyone is interested in a little old covers band:

I love SoundCloud. It's a good source of little-known yet brilliant music, and is often made free to download by the artists. I think it's worth signing up to even if you don't upload your own music, just to follow other artists.
Definitely. I won't be uploading anything (not just yet anyway as it takes me a good 6 months at least to creative something I'm remotely happy with. I'm finding it very useful for finding things I would have never found, had it not been for the artists taking the time to upload their work.A great tool for people who appreciate good music.

Bloody hell fella! That's really, really bloody good!http://snd.sc/yDGao3
Revealing my ignorance; I don't recognise some of their songs, so for all intents and purposes - the song are theirs.
Very, very good. Not usually my cuppa, but that was pretty damn good.
One word for you though - just one, which sums up my opinion..... MORE!

Cypher - I've even managed to get my old man onto it, who's listening to some original Dark Side of the Moon tracks, and now the covers and other variations. Definitely a place to experience new, weird and mostly wonderful sounds. (I'm currently stuck, literally stuck, listening to mauro picotto's session he did for gatecrasher when they were at NEC... 10 years ago!)
Let me know when you have something uploaded - am enjoying listening to peeps creations/ covers, whilst also knowing they're a petrolhead! Ha, good times indeed!

Cheers for the very kind words Mike and Whitestar! It's really nice to hear such positive feedback. We're only a 3-piece cover's band, but we're pretty tight (having played together in various bands for years).
(shameless plug) If anyone has a wedding or party coming up and wants a live band, our contact details are on soundcloud and my PH profile. Although we're Milton Keynes based we'll travel anywhere if the money's right
(and yes, I have no integrity!)
As for more music, hopefully we'll get back in the studio later this year and record another 5 tracks. We want an album's worth of material for promo's etc, so watch this space.
N.b., on the demo we played together live - only the solo's in Jailhouse Rock (and the vocals) were over-dubbed.

How do you download the music tracks onto your mac/pc ?
Not all tracks are available to download, it's only if the artist has set their track to free download. If they have, there'll just be a small download button above the track. For example:Also, sometimes a track will reach a download limit (usually 100), and download button will be greyed out. I find that a lot of the time when this happens, the artist will just add another link to download the track in the description below the track.
